General
LOCATION
Fort Augustus is the main centre serving the southern part of Loch
Ness and the Great Glen, some 30 miles south
of Inverness and a similar distance from Fort William to the south-west.
The village benefits from a significant
volume of tourist business, particularly in summer months, with
the Loch and the Caledonian Canal providing
significant attractions. The development of Fort Augustus Abbey
into upmarket residential use is providing a
further economic boost to the area. The village has a number of
busy hotels and shops and has both primary and
secondary schools.
DESCRIPTION
The land forms an attractive fringe around the southern edge of
the village, with a frontage to the A82. The
subjects run down to the River Tarff and constitute mainly grass
fields with higher ground, adjacent to existing
housing, under very attractive mature woodland.
PLANNING
The Deposit Draft of Inverness Local Plan designates part of the
site, extending to 3.6 hectares, as suitable for
expansion of the village. A development brief will be required
by the Planning Authority, to deal with access, layout
and phasing.
SERVICES
Mains water, drainage and electricity are all available adjacent
to the subjects.
VIEWING
The site may be viewed at any time.
PRICE
Offers are invited and offers subject to outline planning consent
will be considered.
